Project Duration: 1 Year
The Challenge
When we first engaged with the team at Dover Marina Hotel, we were introduced to a beautifully refurbished seaside venue with untapped potential. However, despite the recent upgrades, the wedding and events department was struggling. The internal team was operating in a reactive mode juggling incoming enquiries, managing logistics and trying to keep marketing efforts afloat without a clear direction.
The existing advertising efforts, particularly for weddings, lacked cohesion. There was no structured sales funnel, the visual content didn’t reflect the venue and the team didn’t have a shared understanding of who their ideal client really was. The result? A scattergun approach to bookings and low conversion from enquiries.
The Approach
We immediately put a halt to all wedding advertising and promotional activities. It was clear that continuing without alignment would only further confuse the market and drain resources.
Instead, we took the team back to basics. Through a comprehensive deep dive review session, we audited the venue’s offerings, pricing, brand presence, customer journey and sales process. This laid the groundwork for a complete reset.
Key initial actions included:
Stopping all live wedding advertising to prevent misalignment and confusion.
Clarifying the brand identity with a goal of separating the wedding brand from the hotel’s core marketing.
Defining the target demographics and aligning the packages and messaging accordingly.
Organising a rapid content shoot to capture new, high quality visuals that reflect the venue’s elegance and coastal charm.
Developing a new wedding sales and marketing strategy with a clear roadmap for growth and lead conversion.
The Progress
In the initial few months:
The team now has a clearer sense of direction and a manageable plan that prioritises long term growth over short term reactivity.
Internal confidence has grown as staff now understand how to handle enquiries, what the venue stands for and who they are speaking to.
We’ve created a library of fresh, aspirational visual assets that align with the refined brand and appeal to the desired clientele.
A new social media strategy is being rolled out and web content updates are underway to reflect the new positioning.
Over the following six months;
A full marketing roll out (print, digital and experiential)
A styled wedding shoot and brand led wedding open day
Sales and show round training for staff
SOPs and automated workflows to streamline operations
Strategic partnerships and PR activity to boost visibility in the Kent wedding market
A Promising Future
Dover Marina Hotel is on the cusp of becoming one of the region’s most desirable wedding destinations. With the fundamentals now in place, this project is poised to deliver strong, sustainable growth.
What makes this project special:
The venue itself an elegant, newly renovated hotel on the seafront offers a unique blend of romance and luxury. Through our market research and tailored branding efforts, we’re working to highlight those USPs at every touchpoint and tell a story that truly resonates with modern couples.
